Wow! It has been almost a year since I've blogged! This past year has flown by and I will work hard to acutally try and blog some more this summer :) I love to write about my family- it helps me to reflect and think about all those sweet moments and not so sweet moments! Giving me the opportunity to preserve just a tad of their time as my "little" babies. SO it's time for us to catch up!
As you can see by my photo, everyone is doing well and growing quickly! That was actually taken last October, so now- Sawyer is WALKING! Ian is a mess-always into something and flashing his "it wasn't me" grin. Asher is playing baseball and really loves it-he does such a great job! McKenna is in gymnastics and turning into a THIRD GRADER! Where has time gone?? At our house you will almost always find...fussing, fighting, screaming, drama, loudness, running as well as dirt (I have a new love of stain remover since we have been introduced to baseball and the baseball field). However, you will find that we love God, we love each other, we laugh, we play, we say we're sorry (for the most part) and we are a happy family.
I continue to teach and I love my students as well as my job. Not only do I work on academics, but I teach social skills, I teach my students how to cope with life when things are tough and I teach them that they have the ability to make good choices. They may not always make good choices, but we can all learn from that also. I love to see my students grow- and even when it feels like maybe they aren't, I can look back and recognize that they've come a long way. Even on the toughest day, it's going to be okay.
I've been working on my Rank 1 throughout this past year and after many late nights I'm almost finished! Yay! I have 2 classes this summer and 1 left this fall. I've been working on my certification to work with students dealing with a moderate-severe disability. This has been a great experience as I have always been intimidated by that area of teaching-never sure that I would be able to work with MSD students. What do you do? How do you teach? However, I'm always looking for ways to grow and this has certainly stretched me. I have learned that I love this population and each new experience has brought a smile to my face. I've had a lot of opportunity to work with middle and high school students (also something new) and I have enjoyed that as well!
Nathan works in Lexington full time now and we said "good-bye" to the paper route! He loves numbers and likes being away from corporate banking - his job fits him nicely and I'm so glad he's happy. Saying good-bye to the paper route also meant that I had to say good-bye to all my free coupons. Boo! However, I'm still at it- clipping and saving :) I am especially enjoying yard sale season, although I would love to get out even more each Saturday- that's sometimes hard to do.
Oh! I almost forgot! We have a new addition to our family. Dooley. Dooley is our new dog! It wasn't my idea, but he is growing on me. One descriptive word for Dooley= LAZY. Dooley lays around the house for the most part but does love the kids and doesn't mind them rolling around with him and pulling on him. He especially loves Sawyer as Sawyer is the messiest eater and it is almost certain that there will always be some left over food on the floor for him. I'm pretty certain he is entertained by us all, poor guy!
Well, that catches us up for now and I am going to try to do my best and blog more often -instead of just once a year! I am headed out soon to take McKenna to her first weekend at camp and Asher has baseball this weekend! Have a great weekend!
