What's in a name?

I thought it would be fun for me to give you a little background as to how I decided on the name of my blog, "Meet the Harringtons."

Not long ago (almost 8 months) we had a new neighbor move in next door, Cindy. She is a very nice lady, who unknowingly moved in next door to a family with 3 children under the age of 5 :-) She started fixing up her new home by repairing the deck and creating sweet sitting areas throughout her back yard (which was at the time separated from our yard with a chain link fence). One evening as she sat on her deck and Nathan and I worked in the kitchen as the kids played outside on our patio, Nathan noticed some strange "mud" on the patio. "What is that?" We wondered... "Surely, it couldn't be..." Oh. But it was. Our son, Asher had decided to go to the bathroom on the patio. As Nathan instantly started to clean up the mess (don't worry, Asher and McKenna had scooped much of it to make soup with. Yes. So helpful.) McKenna shouted, "Look what Asher did!! And right in front of our new neighbor!!" As I turned my head in what seemed like slow motion at the time, I saw Cindy watching the scene unfold from her deck. Welcome to the neighborhood, Cindy. Meet the Harringtons :-)

Christmas Break!

Well, Christmas has come and gone but a tiny bit of break still remains! I guess we are given this last week to recover from Christmas. Packing up, re-organizing, traveling to and from and of course hitting up a few after Christmas sales! However, it has been such a good time at home with the kids the last few weeks. Of course we have our meltdowns, but we've enjoyed cookies, family time and our time celebrating the real reason for Christmas-Jesus! It was nice to hear McKenna say from time to time, "Asher that's not what Christmas is about!" I stress the "from time to time" as she is a 6 year old, kindergarten girl who experiences MANY emotions-but at least I know she knows! This break is also a good time for me to try my hand at blogging! I hope to add some pictures and look forward to sharing a little more about my life and my family.
